I Am For Ad Supported

I am for ad supported. Ad supported tablets, ad supported smartphones, if possible. Ad supported broadband through use of snooping technology. I am one of those who see a price drop from $500 to $200 on the tablet as a huge one. And that was before ad supported. Even $200 is too much. Bring it down to $100 and see the magic happen.

Amazon is a sturdy property. Jeff Bezos some have talked as the next Steve Jobs. But 12 years ago it would have been very hard to imagine the two companies would ever cross paths. The two have inexorable moved toward each other's turfs.

Apple and Amazon have a common and key weapon: unparalleled data about their customers, particularly their credit-card numbers.

Will Amazon build a smartphone? How can it not? Amazon should perform a similar price trick as did with the Kindle Fire. That would be an instant differentiator.

But this is not two dimensional chess. It can be argued this is four dimensional chess. Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook. Each has or will have a smartphone. We live in the age of mobile.

By now Android is no longer playing second place to the iOS in either the smartphone space or the tablet space. Nexus 7 has been a major arrival. Before that Amazon's Kindle Fire was the best product in the space running Android, but it was not Google's version of Android, and so it did not count for a win in Google's lap.

The Nexus 7 and the Samsung Galaxy S III have exceeded their Apple counterparts. Who is playing catch up now?
